Marketing Executive, France
"One of the most effective and at the same time most enjoyable learning experiences I have ever had."
I recently moved from a small, local advertising agency to an international one in Paris. I have only ever learned English in school and realised that it was essential to improve my English to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
The course was well-prepared, and I was well- prepared for the course. ELT found out everything about my needs before I arrived in London. The course outline I was given completely reflected these needs, but was flexible enough to integrate anything new that came up. And I was amazed that when something new did come up, materials were instantly produced with me and my situation in mind.
In fact, everything was tailor-made for me. One of the many authentic materials used was a brochure of a local advertising agency, and during my stay they arranged a meeting with the Marketing Executive of this company. It was good to discuss (and argue about!) our different approches to advertising.
My priority was to improve my confidence in giving presentations in English. Both my trainers helped me so much, not only with the language I needed but, also the structure and organisation of what I had to say. And while at first I was a bit shy about being filmed, it really helped me with all the 'physical' aspects of giving a presentation.
There was fantastic communication between the trainers - they seemed to know everything about me, my professional background and my interests. They also showed great awareness of the problems French speakers have when speaking English ... and the way they taught was based on the way I learn.
