Kensington - Apartment

"I hadn't spent much time in London before so I chose to take my course in the Kensington apartments in order to explore the city.

Kensington is a very up-market area of London with plenty of nightlife and attractions. Best of all, it is very close to the centre of town and I visited the sights most days.

My course and accommodation were in a very comfortable apartment with private bathroom, living room and kitchen. I enjoyed having the independence of a private apartment - I could study and work without the interruption and still had the opportunity to speak English with the staff and other guests."

Clapham - Host Family

"In my work as a sales manager for a Russian cosmetics company, I am often asked to entertain clients and colleagues in English. I chose to stay with an English family close to ELT's Executive Centre so that I would get some useful practice in social English. I wasn't disappointed.

The family had been carefully selected so that we had many interests in common - we had a lot of laughs about cultural differences between Russia and England over dinner in the evenings and it was interesting to meet professional English people and discuss current affairs and business attitudes.

I loved Clapham. The area is great - lots of restaurants, pubs and shops and it doesn't feel like you're in the centre of a city. Above all, living in a real family in Clapham, made me forget that I was a visitor - I felt almost like a Londoner!"
